			καλλιτέκνοισι χοροῖς, Νηρεῦ, μεγαλώνυμε Δαῖμον,
			πυθμὴν μὲν πόντου, γαίης πέρας, ἀρχὴ ἁπάντων,
			ὃς κλονέεις Δηοῦς ἱερὸν βάθρον, ἡνίκα πνοιὰς
			ἐν μυχίοις κευθμῶσιν ἐλαυνομένας ἀποκλείεις·
			ἀλλά, μάκαρ, σεισμοὺς μὲν ἀπότρεπε, πέμπε δὲ μύσταις
			ὄλβον τ’ εἰρήνην τε, καὶ ἠπιόχειρ’ ὑγείαν.

	p.hymn-english O Thou, who dost the roots of Ocean keep#[br]in seats cærulean, Dæmon of the deep,#[br]with fifty nymphs (attending in Thy train,#[br]fair virgin artists) glorying thro’ the main:#[br]the dark foundation of the rolling sea#[br]and Earth’s wide bounds, belong much-fam’d to Thee;#[br]great Dæmon, source of all, whose pow’r can make#[br]the Earth’s unmeasur’d, holy basis shake,#[br]when blust’ring winds in secret caverns pent,#[br]by Thee excited, struggle hard for vent:#[br]come, blessed Nereus, listen to my pray’r,#[br]and cease to shake the earth with wrath severe;#[br]send on our sacred rites abundant health,#[br]with peace divine and necessary wealth.
