			p I am broadly optimistic about the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning tools. I think they hold great promise to create a better, more advanced, and fairer world, where we will all ultimately be better off. I also think they are, for the most part, a #[em normal] technology, much like the internet or the radio, and they will probably not lead to us ascending into godhood or the end of the world in nuclear hellfire.
			p This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad take.
			p I have a lot of thoughts — as do we all, for right now is almost certainly the #[em least] computer our lives will ever be — and this page serves as a place to document them, and more broadly explain why i think everything will probably be fine, mostly.

			p Is it me, or does every prediction of how superintelligent #[+sc("AI")] could end the world sound a bit like the Underpants Gnomes from #[i South Park]?
			p Take this, from the viral #[a(href="https://ai-2027.com/") “#[+sc("AI")] 2027”] #[s fanfiction] prediction.

			p Like… or, you know, they wouldn’t. I do not find the ”???” between the doomsayers’ “collect underpants” and “profit” particularly convincing. In any scenario. They have watched #[i Terminator] too much and seem to rely on everyone in a position of power being maximally stupid at all times. It’ll be fine.
